Ruby Princess, 2,700 passengers disembarked yesterday, but 3 are positive
The authorities of New South Wales, Australia, have launched an urgent appeal to 2,700 passengers disembarked yesterday in Sydney by the cruise ship Ruby Princess to put themselves in solitary confinement after three of them (plus a crew member) are positive results for the coronavirus test.
The ship was traveling from Sydney to New Zealand but came back because some passengers got sick and 13 of them were tested. State authorities explained that they had given the green light to disembark all passengers yesterday, before having the test results, as they believed that the situation on board was “low risk”: the results of the analyzes , with the four positive cases, only arrived today.
State Health Minister Brad Hazzard said “everything possible is being done” to contact passengers. The ship is now located off Sydney with 1,100 crew members on board, including the positive one.
